University students are preparing for careers that will be shaped by artificial intelligence, automation, and rapid technological change. Their success will depend not only on knowing how to use new tools, but also on understanding when to use them, how to evaluate their outputs, and where ethical boundaries must be maintained.

With this future in view, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) hosted a workshop titled “AI for Future Leaders” at Bijoy Auditorium on October 27, 2025. The session was facilitated by NetCom Learning Bangladesh to help students explore the opportunities, responsibilities, and strategic implications associated with artificial intelligence.

The workshop encouraged participants to look beyond the popular perception of AI as merely a content-generation tool. Instead, the discussion positioned AI as a developing professional capability that can assist with research, information analysis, communication, planning, problem-solving, and workplace productivity across different disciplines.

MD Imdadul Islam, Head of Training & Solutions at NetCom Learning Bangladesh and an AI CERTs® Certified Trainer, led the session alongside Fahmidul Alam, Mentor at NetCom Learning Bangladesh and an AI CERTs® Certified Trainer. Together, they connected fundamental AI concepts with practical situations that students may encounter during their academic journeys and future careers.

Participants explored how clear instructions and relevant context can improve AI-generated responses. The session also emphasized the importance of questioning those responses, verifying claims through reliable sources, and applying independent judgment before using AI-assisted information in academic or professional work.

Responsible use remained a central theme throughout the workshop. Students were encouraged to consider issues such as misinformation, algorithmic bias, privacy, intellectual property, academic integrity, and the potential consequences of relying too heavily on automated recommendations.

AI can help students organize ideas, summarize permitted materials, prepare initial outlines, identify research directions, and communicate more effectively. However, it should not replace original thinking, subject knowledge, proper citation, or the personal effort required to develop genuine competence.

The discussion also highlighted that leadership in an AI-enabled world will require more than technical ability. Future leaders must be able to evaluate risks, communicate decisions clearly, protect sensitive information, and ensure that technology is applied in ways that remain fair, accountable, and aligned with human needs.

The engagement at BUP reflected a shared interest in developing graduates who are prepared to navigate technological change with both confidence and responsibility. Strengthening AI literacy at the university level can help students enter the workforce with a clearer understanding of how human expertise and intelligent tools can work together.
