Human Resource management is steadily moving beyond administrative support toward a more strategic role. In Bangladesh’s apparel industry, HR teams must manage recruitment, workforce communication, performance records, training, compliance, and employee engagement across complex operations.
To explore how artificial intelligence can support these responsibilities, Columbia Apparels Limited hosted a short learning session on “AI for HR” at its facility in Gazipur. The session was facilitated by NetCom Learning Bangladesh and designed around practical applications relevant to HR professionals.
Participants explored how generative AI can assist with drafting job descriptions, preparing interview questions, structuring onboarding materials, summarizing approved documents, developing internal communications, and organizing routine HR reports.
The session also introduced ways to use AI for analysing appropriately prepared workforce data and identifying patterns that may support planning. Such insights can help HR teams ask better questions, but they should never be treated as final judgments about an employee or candidate.

Khan Tanvir, Subject Matter Expert and AI CERTs® Certified Trainer, led the program through practical demonstrations tailored to everyday HR workflows. His approach focused on helping participants understand where AI can save time, where human expertise remains essential, and how outputs should be reviewed before use.
Responsible adoption was an important part of the discussion. Employee records, salary information, performance evaluations, medical details, and candidate data should only be handled through approved and secure systems. HR professionals must also review AI-assisted recommendations for accuracy, fairness, relevance, and potential bias.
AI should not independently determine who is hired, promoted, rewarded, or disciplined. These decisions require transparent policies, reliable evidence, organizational accountability, and meaningful human oversight.
Although brief, the session gave the Columbia Apparels Limited team a practical introduction to how AI can reduce repetitive work and create more time for responsibilities that depend on human understanding—including employee support, talent development, and organizational culture.
We appreciate the collaboration with Columbia Apparels Limited and recognize the coordination of Zarin Tasnim Mim and Peyal Sarker in supporting the successful delivery of the session.
