In public health and scientific research, productivity is not simply about completing tasks faster. It is about helping professionals manage information efficiently, collaborate effectively, and devote more time to work that creates meaningful health outcomes.

With this focus, NetCom Learning Bangladesh recently conducted a seminar on “AI for Workplace Productivity” at the icddr,b premises in Mohakhali, Dhaka.

The session explored how artificial intelligence can support everyday workplace activities, including research assistance, document summarization, report preparation, data organization, meeting documentation, professional communication, and cross-team collaboration. Participants examined how these tools could reduce time spent on repetitive tasks and support more structured workflows.

The discussion also covered AI-assisted analytics and information synthesis. When applied to reliable and properly governed data, AI can help professionals identify patterns, summarize complex materials, and prepare information for further evaluation. These outputs, however, must always be reviewed by individuals with the appropriate subject-matter expertise.

The seminar was led by MD Imdadul Islam, Head of Training at NetCom Learning Bangladesh and an AI CERTs® Certified Trainer. Through practical examples, he demonstrated how well-structured prompts and clearly defined workflows can make AI tools more useful for workplace research, communication, and productivity.

Because icddr,b works within healthcare and research environments, responsible AI use was an especially important part of the session. Patient, participant, research, and organizational information must remain protected. Sensitive data should never be entered into public or unauthorized AI platforms, while AI-generated findings must be verified before being used in research, clinical, operational, or policy-related decisions.

The engagement of the icddr,b professionals reflected a thoughtful interest in strengthening digital capabilities while maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and human judgment required in public health work. This balance is essential for turning emerging technology into responsible workplace value.
